CASE STUDY REPORT ON PATIENTS FAILED BREATH TYPE 2 IN PKU MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA

Background: Breath failure is a gas exchange disorder that can be caused by oxygenation disorders, carbon dioxide disruption, or both. In the United States the incidence of respiratory failure increased from 1,007,549 people in 2001 to 1,917,910 in 2009 (Stefan, et al, 2013). Some causes of respiratory failure can include COPD and asthma. The prevalence of asthma, COPD, and cancer increases with age. the prevalence of asthma, COPD, and cancer in Indonesia are 4.5 percent, 3.7 percent, and 1.4 per mile, respectively. The highest prevalence of asthma was found in Central Sulawesi (7.8%), followed by East Nusa Tenggara (7.3%), DI Yogyakarta (6.9%), and South Sulawesi (6.7%). The highest prevalence of COPD was in East Nusa Tenggara (10.0%), followed by Central Sulawesi (8.0%), West Sulawesi and South Sulawesi, each at 6.7 percent. The highest cancer prevalence is in DI Yogyakarta (4.1 ‰), followed by Central Java (2.1 ‰), Bali (2 ‰), Bengkulu, and DKI Jakarta, 1.9 per mile (Riskesdas, 2013).
Objective: To find out nursing care in patients with Type 2 breath failure in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta.
Results: Nursing diagnoses that were established were gas exchange disorders, risk of infection and activity intolerance. Patient intervention is expected to be able to breathe spontaneously, there are no signs of infection and the patient can move without the help of others. Implementation of monitoring the patient's oxygen status, monitoring signs of infection, washing hands before and after contact with patients, encouraging patients to increase their intake of high-protein nutrition, encouraging patients to maintain cleanliness, monitor the status of death and patient activity. Evaluation after 3x24 hours is expected to disrupt the gas exchange is resolved, there are no signs of infection and intolerance of patient activity is resolved.
